Senior Accountant Consultant

Location: Columbia, MD | Hybrid
Duration: Approximately 4 months
Pay: $45–$55/hour

Cherry Bekaert is supporting a client in identifying an experienced Senior Accountant Consultant to provide interim accounting support during a critical year-end period. This is a hands-on role ideal for a strong accounting professional who enjoys being in the details and can quickly integrate into an established team.

The position is hybrid in Columbia, MD, with 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Assist with financial reporting and account review
  • Support construction and project-based accounting activities, including percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Partner closely with the Assistant Controller and accounting team
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting and operational needs as required 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager-level experience
  • Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation experience
  • Experience with construction, project-based, or percentage-of-completion accounting preferred
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains experience strongly preferred
  • DataRails or similar reporting experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and quickly contribute in a fast-paced accounting environment
