Project Accountant / Senior Project Accountant
Manassas, VA (Onsite 4 - 5 days per week)
Our client, a rapidly growing project-based services organization with operations across multiple states, is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial performance of a high-volume regional business unit.
This position offers the opportunity to partner directly with operations leadership, analyze project profitability, support forecasting efforts, and play a key role in the financial success of complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability
- Maintain and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
- Assist with monthly forecasting and budgeting activities
- Review project financial performance and identify cost overruns, risks, and opportunities
- Support revenue recognition and project cost tracking
- Partner with Project Managers and Operations teams
- Assist with accounts payable processing and project cost reconciliation
- Prepare financial reporting and performance analysis for management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, cost accounting, construction accounting, financial analysis, or related disciplines
- Experience supporting project-based, contract-based, or operational environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and partner effectively with operations personnel
- Experience with ERP systems and project management software preferred

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 base salary
