We're seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a busy finance team during a critical year-end and audit period. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys project-based work, month-end close activities, and helping organizations maintain strong financial operations during times of transition.

You'll work closely with the Controller, taking ownership of key accounting functions while helping ensure an efficient and accurate close process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and post general journal entries for Controller review
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account analyses
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial reporting
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits and programmatic audits
  • Support preparation of Form 990 filings and related reporting activities
  • Research accounting issues and assist with special projects as needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide backup support for various accounting and finance functions
  • Collaborate with the Controller to improve processes and maintain accurate financial records

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably at the Senior Accountant level
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting system
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proven experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with nonprofit accounting environments
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and nonprofit compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting financial audits and Form 990 preparation
  • Familiarity with Go Payables or similar AP automation software
