Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a stable, growing, family‑owned organization with a strong footprint in the transportation and equipment space. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, values accuracy, and wants to be a key contributor within a collaborative finance team.
This position is open due to internal promotion and offers meaningful exposure to financial reporting, inventory accounting, and business operations. You’ll work closely with the Accounting Manager and CFO and play an important role in month‑end close, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $75,000 – $90,000
- Profit‑sharing bonus
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to financial reporting, compliance, and month‑end close activities. This role supports budgeting, inventory accounting, audit coordination, and internal controls while partnering with operations to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Prepare journal entries and support month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports related to expenses and inventory
- Maintain accounting controls and assist with policy, procedure, and process improvements
Inventory & Operational Accounting
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounting
- Apply accounting expertise to support and advise business operations
Cash Management & Disbursements
- Process and manage wire and ACH payments
- Post cash receipts and process bank deposits
- Manage daily positive pay activity
Compliance & Specialized Accounting
- Complete right‑of‑use asset and liability calculations
- Process and file federal excise tax (FET) payments
- Process state sales tax filings and payments
Audit, Controls & Analysis
- Assist with internal audit activities and strengthen process integrity
- Coordinate data collection for year‑end audit and tax filings
- Support the implementation of Power BI reporting and analytics
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–7 years of accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or audit
- Experience in manufacturing, equipment, distribution, or product‑based environments strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required (or actively pursuing)
- ERP experience required (SAP or similar systems translate well)
- Power BI experience is a plus
